Thursday, May 12, 2022 11 Iyar 5782

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Have you heard of the Jewish holidays of Sigd, Malida, or Mimouna? These holidays are celebrated by Jews from Ethiopia and India and by Sephardic Jews in the Arab world, respectively.

On Thursday, May 12, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., in Parish Hall at Reformation (212 E. Capitol Street, NE), Hill Havurah will host a panel of representatives from the Sephardic, Ethiopian, and Indian Jewish communities. Elliot Totah, president of Rockville's Magen David Sephardic Congregation; Sigal Sandaka, from an Ethiopian family in Haifa, and currently Jewish Agency Israel Fellow at George Washington University Hillel; and Nissim Reuben, from western India, and with the American Jewish Committee's Asia Pacific Institute, will speak about
their community's special traditions and observances, and what it's like to belong to that community in the United States.

The evening will include refreshments.

For those of you not joining us in person, this event will be livestreamed; in order to view the livestream, just go to the Hill Havurah YouTube page from any smartphone or computer. If you experience technical difficulties with the livestream, switching browsers can sometimes help.
