Chanukkah 2020/5781

The first night of Chanukkah this year is Thursday, December 10th.

The last night is Thursday, December 17th.

Below you can learn about this year's array of Hill Havurah Chanukkah events and activities.

Self-Guided Menorah Tour of Capitol Hill

Even though we can't crowd around a table full of menorahs this year, we're really looking forward to seeing each other's menorahs! More than 30 Hill Havurah households are putting a menorah (lit or unlit, actual or colored in) in their windows this year. On Friday morning at about 10:50 we sent a link of a "walking map" to Havurah members who'd like to try to see as many menorahs as possible.

For security reasons, please do not post the map on social media or share it publicly in any way. If you didn't receive the map or have any questions, please email Danny at danny.tomares@hillhavurah.org.

Hill Havurah's Little Lights Annual Christmas Drive

Ends on Monday, December 14th

Hill Havurah members have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of some less fortunate children this Christmas. We are asking you to donate to the Little Lights Christmas Store, a place where parents living in Potomac Gardens or Hopkins Public Housing can select gifts for their children. Little Lights' goal is 250 gifts for parents to take home, wrap, and present to their children on Christmas Day.

From now through Monday, December 14th, you can either:

1) Give money directly to the Hill Havurah Little Lights Donation Page to enable Little Lights to purchase gifts. Our goal is to raise $2,000.

2) Select a gift directly through the Little Lights Amazon Registry (open until December 7th). Please address the gift to:

Little Lights
760 7th Street SE
Washington, DC 20003

Please contact Nate Allen (nate.df.allen@gmail.com) of Hill Havurah's Tikkun Olam Committee with any questions.
