This winter, join us on three Friday afternoons at Reformation (212 E. Capitol St., NE) as we take a breath, gather with others, and seek some wisdom from our tradition. We’ll reflect on a few of the big, human questions that come up for us during this Israel-Hamas war. Questions like:

How do I experience connection to the Jewish community in Israel and around the world, particularly in moments of challenge and crisis? When tragedy strikes, how might we respond meaningfully? When conversations become difficult, how do we remain unified? Is it possible?

  • Week 1: My Heart is In The East
  • Week 2: Responding to Tragedy
  • Week 3: Conversations Civil and Uncivil

Will other people disagree with me politically?

Probably. It’s possible our group will include some disagreement, maybe even major disagreement, about politics, but we are trying to keep talking with one another. It’s also important to say that this learning circle isn’t designed to be a conversational space about politics -- it’s designed to be a space where we discuss big Jewish ideas, themes, values, and questions inherent to this moment -- no matter what political solutions we may advocate for. We’ll commit to respecting one another.

Can I play it by ear?

We do ask that you have some skin in the game and attend at least two out of the three conversations, as we are doing the work of building a trusting group. This is more like, “I do this at lunchtime every other Friday this winter,” than “I drop in when I can.”

I'm into this. What do I do now?

Sign up here. And, if you like, forward this to a friend or two, too.
