4th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Weekend Program

Sunday, January 19, 2020 22 Tevet 5780

9:30 AM - 12:30 PMKingsman Academy PCS -- 1375 E Street, NE
Hill Havurah’s fourth annual interfaith Martin Luther King Jr. Day Weekend program will be on Sunday, January 19th! We will have the opportunity to do tikkun olam (take part in a service project), hear from inspirational Jewish and Muslim speakers committed to Dr. King’s vision, participate in discussions and activities for all (ages 3-123!), and share a celebratory vegetarian and nut-free potluck lunch. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with their children.

Our celebration and learning will take place at Kingsman Academy PCS, 1375 E Street, NE. We will gather at 9:30 am and say goodbye at 12:30 pm. You can see a draft schedule here.

Our tikkun olam project will be assembling Welcome Home baskets for previously unhoused neighbors who are now moving into homes through the support of Everyone Home DC. In order for our service project to succeed, we will need all participants to order specific items for the baskets through this Amazon Wish List and bring them to the event. Please make your orders by Monday, January 13th.

It would also be wonderful to have your participation in the potluck! Please bring a dish that speaks to your family traditions -- religious, culinary, or otherwise. The Havurah will provide plenty of snacks and drinks.
