Hill Havurah Book of Remembrance: 5780 (2019-20) Yizkor Memorial Book

The Yizkor service on Yom Kippur morning is an important element of the High Holidays. The word
yizkor means “remember,” and this service is an opportunity to honor the memory of those close to us
who have passed away – parents, grandparents, siblings, spouses, and children; other relatives, friends,
and colleagues; and victims of war and terror.

As we approach the High Holidays, we are planning to print Hill Havurah’s first Book of
Remembrance, Yizkor (Memorial) Book
, to be used at our High Holiday services this year. The book will
contain the names of those family, friends, and colleagues who you wish to be remembered.
In the traditional liturgy that we read together during the Yizkor service, we do not simply remember
those we have lost. We also pledge tzedakah on their behalf, requesting that the credit for our good
works be counted towards their merits. This pledge presents a special opportunity to support Hill
Havurah in their names.

To ensure that the names of those you wish to remember are included in the Book of Remembrance,
please submit your information no later than August 30, 2019. We request a donation of $18 per
name.
