Family Education Program

Please join Yavneh on the Hill and Hill Havurah for a family education series. Rabbi David Shneyer will lead three Sunday afternoon discussions for parents. In addition Rabbi Shneyer will lead Shabbat services for our community in February. You can find information about Reb David at www.am-kolel.org.

Special thanks to the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington for funding the Family Education Program!

December 3, 4 – 6 PM:
The first session will include an introduction and discussion of Jewish identity and raising Jewish children in both Jewish and Interfaith families.

KIDS program: Children will enjoy story telling with Jordan Hill, a professional storyteller. He will engage the kids in an interactive program with Jewish stories and themes.
January 28th, 4 – 6 PM:
The second session will focus on Bar/Bat Mitzvah – what this is, how it fits into the cycle of Jewish life, how a child and family prepare for this event, how we can do Bar/Bat Mitzvah in our community, etc.

February 23/24th:
Rabbi Shneyer will lead a Friday night Shabbat service and a Shabbat morning service. These services will be “learning” services for our families. These services will be held at 801 N. Carolina Ave SE (Christ Our Shepherd Church). These services are open to all members of the community.

March 11th, 4 – 6 PM:
This will be our last session and will be open for a topic of our choice. Reb David could do an overview of Jewish history or thought, or lead a discussion of issues the group would like to focus on.

WHERE: Our three Sunday sessions will be held at Christ Church (621 G Street SE) from 4-6 pm.

KIDS PROGRAM: We will provide children’s programs concurrent with the adult Sunday programs in the nursery/playschool space at Christ Church.

PLEASE LET ANN MESNIKOFF know if you are interested in attending these sessions and whether your children will be there at ann1@hillhavurah.com or call 547-1826.

This program is funded through a grant from the Greater Washington Jewish Federation. It is open to all members of our community.
